About this infographic
Ramadan trains us for the other eleven months. The goal is not to keep its intensity, but to keep something. “The most beloved deeds to Allah are those done consistently, even if they are small” (Sahih al-Bukhari 6464). Here are seven habits to keep the light of Ramadan alive.
1. Fast six days of Shawwal
Fasting Ramadan followed by six days of Shawwal is like fasting the whole year. — Sahih Muslim 1164
2. A daily Qur’an portion
Even a single page, at a fixed time each day, keeps your relationship with the Qur’an alive.
3. Keep the night prayer
Two rak‘ahs or witr. The best prayer after the obligatory prayers is the prayer at night. — Sahih Muslim 1163
4. Fast Mondays and Thursdays
These are the days when deeds are presented to Allah. — Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 747
5. Morning and evening adhkar
“Remember Allah with much remembrance and glorify Him morning and evening.” — Qur’an 33:41–42
6. A little charity, regularly
Set up a small weekly amount and keep it going — consistency over size.
7. Keep good company
A person is upon the way of their close friend, so look carefully at whom you befriend. — Sunan Abi Dawud 4833
A moment to reflect
Pick just two habits from this list and commit to them until next Ramadan. Small and steady will take you further than big and brief.
