About this infographic
When life feels heavy, the Prophet ﷺ did not leave us without words. These five supplications are short enough to memorise and powerful enough to carry us through distress, fear and grief. Keep this infographic on your phone and return to it whenever your heart needs it.
1. In distress — the dua of Yunus (عليه السلام)
Called out from the darkness of the whale, this is the dua of a servant who admits his need and turns completely to his Lord.
“There is no god but You. Glory be to You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.” — Qur’an 21:87
2. When afraid — trust in Allah
These were the words of the believers when they were told that a great army had gathered against them. Fear turned into faith.
“Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.” — Qur’an 3:173
3. For anxiety and grief
The Prophet ﷺ regularly sought refuge in Allah from anxiety and sorrow, teaching us that these feelings are real — and that the answer is to bring them to Allah.
“O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and grief…” — Sahih al-Bukhari 6369
4. Protection — three times morning and evening
Whoever says this three times in the morning and evening, nothing will harm them, as reported in the Sunnah.
“In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.” — Sunan Abi Dawud 5088
5. In hardship
The Prophet ﷺ would say these words at times of distress, beginning with the greatness and forbearance of Allah.
“None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Magnificent, the Forbearing…” — Sahih al-Bukhari 6346
A moment to reflect
Choose one of these duas this week and make it your own. Say it in sujood, before sleeping, or whenever worry rises — and trust that Allah hears every word.
