While the world sleeps, the doors of mercy are open. The night prayer is a private meeting between a servant and her Lord.

1. The Best Prayer After the Obligatory

The Prophet ﷺ was asked which prayer is best after the prescribed prayers. He said: prayer in the depth of the night. — Sahih Muslim 1163

2. Allah Calls Out Every Night

When the last third of the night remains, our Lord descends to the nearest heaven and says: “Who is calling upon Me, that I may answer him? Who is asking of Me, that I may give him? Who is seeking My forgiveness, that I may forgive him?” — Sahih al-Bukhari 1145

3. A Command to the Prophet ﷺ

The Qur’an itself encourages rising at night for extra worship.

وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَتَهَجَّدْ بِهِ نَافِلَةً لَّكَ

“And from the night, pray with it as additional worship for you.”

Qur’an 17:79

4. Start Small, Stay Consistent

You do not need hours. Two rak‘ahs before Fajr, done regularly, is more beloved than a long prayer done once:

  • Sleep a little earlier
  • Set an alarm 15 min before Fajr
  • Pray two rak‘ahs
  • Make one heartfelt dua

Your Night, Your Dua

Bring your hopes, worries and tears to Allah in the quiet of the night — He is waiting to answer.
