Shukr: How Gratitude Multiplies Your Blessings
Gratitude changes how we see our lives. It turns what we have into enough — and Allah promises that it brings even more.
1. A Divine Promise
Allah ties increase directly to gratitude.
لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ
“If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor].”
Qur’an 14:72. Good in Every Situation
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Strange are the ways of a believer, for there is good in every affair of his… if he has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks Allah, and that is good for him; and if he gets into trouble and shows patience, that is good for him.” — Sahih Muslim 2999
3. Noticing the Hidden Blessings
Health, family, faith, a safe place to sleep, the ability to read the Qur’an — the blessings we stop noticing are often the greatest ones.
4. Practise Gratitude Daily
Gratitude is shown with the heart, the tongue and actions:
- Write three blessings
- Say Alhamdulillah often
- Give in charity
- Use blessings in worship
